The clocks go back, winter is coming and as with a lot of outdoor performers this is the time of year where we plant new ideas, explore different ways of working and develop as artists. This Autumn I have been busy at Orange HQ doing just that.
In September I enjoyed a very valuable week with the NASA Outdoor Arts Lab exploring text and writing narrative for 5 days. It was so great to explore this in more depth, having trained in visual and physical practice I have long since had an anxiety about creating from the written word. Here I explored a host of different starting points and techniques and feel like any new work I create will be the better for it.
I have been working with friends and colleagues Circo Rum Ba Ba on their new show, Dress Up for Christmas which will be touring Wales in December. I am switching from acrobatic flyer to base which is an exciting prospect! Tour dates will appear here soon.
I was delighted to present a new piece in collaboration with Visual Artist Natasha Cossey at Bloomsbury Festival in London last Friday 23rd October. We created a 3 hour installation in a hairdressers’ shop window, pictured above. It was a roaring success and we are plotting to take “Stain on Satin” on tour next year.
And Finally…
We are delighted to announce that Owen and I will be pitching for new show P.U.B at the ISAN Critical Mass Conference and Ideas Summit in November. We are looking for commissioning partners to develop the piece ready for May 2016.
